I am an Emergency Medicine physician with an interest in critical care and community medicine. I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Southwestern Medical School and I have an extensive history of advising premedical and medical students. I offer free advising and mentorship for prospective physicians that need help navigating this treacherous pathway.
Fully committed to the advancement of college and medical students that lack resources, mentors, and proper advising. My mission is to help those underrepresented in medicine, whether it's by gender, race, socioeconomic status or sexual orientation.
"Dr. Rodgers has been a pivotal piece of my pursuit to a doctoral degree. Not only has he offered personal advice, and encouragement, but he's also answered (my many) questions, read my essays and personal statements, and directed me to valuable resources every pre-med student should have. I would recommend his expertise and knowledge as a must have for anyone entering this long and sometimes difficult journey." - E. K. Dallas, Tx
"My success was made possible with the guidance of Dr. Rodgers. It is easy to sense his genuine interest in wanting to share his passion of medicine with others and I have been very fortunate to have his assistance in navigating the medical school application process. I rest assured now that I am in medical school and with his help, I am positive that I will make it into my dream specialty." - C. L. Arlington, Tx
"I was a father of 3 struggling through with the requirements of a premed student. Dr. Rodgers was an important factor in my obtainment of my doctoral degree. He offered me encouragement while navigating my way through the premed process, both during and after undergrad. Upon graduating, he went above and beyond to ensure I was on the right path. Answering questions about medical school admissions while assisting with my personal statement. I would not have been as successful in the application cycle without his guidance." -C. G. Colorado Springs, CO
Congrats! You have taken the first steps toward your goal in medical education by reaching out to a mentor that knows the process. Many premeds struggle with course selection, post-bacc options, decision to retake the MCAT and when is too late to apply. Medical students may also need guidance as imposter syndrome sets in after the first gross anatomy exam or when presenting patients for the first time on the wards. I am here to help you progress through this process one step at a time. Please fill out the information below to get started!
Selecting the right major for you can be difficult and stressful. Should you major in biochemistry or pursue your passion in writing as an English major while taking premed courses? When should you get involved with research, volunteering and shadowing? Avoid common misconceptions about what medical schools are looking for!
The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a major barrier of entry into medical school. When should you take this exam? How long should you study and what resources are available? The right planning and support is needed to do well on the (arguably) most important exam of your medical career.
You're ACCEPTED! Now what? Tips and advice on how to study for pre-clerkship, how to prepare for clinical rotations, and guidance with applying to residency.
